We teach studio and location lighting with flash strobe lighting, demonstrating how to select the correct lighting modifier for different effects. On location we teach how to make the most of available light, using various types of reflectors and diffusion screens.

Day One (BEGINNER)

Introduction to photography

Photographic Art History

Camera operation and handling

Basic camera parts and icons

Correct exposure by adjusting ISO, aperture and shutter speed

Reading the camera meter

Practice shooting people using basic camera controls


Day Two (BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE)

Review of Day 1 lecture

Critique of photos from last session

Learning about composition: how the eyes looks at a picture, rule of thirds, frames, foreground

and background,

Brightness ratios,  highlight to shadow

Practice shoot on composition and brightness ratios


Day Three (BEGINNER INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED)

Critique of photos from last session

Researching good photography of people

Being prepared to achieve amazing people photographs


Day Four (BEGINNER INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED)

Portraiture and posing

Lighting theory and practice

Strobe Flash, both on and off camera photography and use of modifiers

Hands-on shoot indoors with flash and available light and outdoors using reflectors and available light


Day Five (BEGINNER INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED)

Introduction to basic digital imaging, workflow to post-processing

Editing your images and photoshop retouching

Critique and judging of prints

Presentation of certificates of attendance, awarding of prizes for photo contest
