In the words of a student of one of these wonderful fashion photography courses run by Bruce Smith. "Some things you just can’t learn from fashion or fine art nude photography How To Shoot Books, Youtube Videos or DVD's"
I could have bought all the fashion books on Amazon, and not learned what I did in a few days with Bruce, which he himself learned from decades of successful work in the industry. In September 2015 I joined Bruce in a chateau near Bordeaux, France for a four-day, one-to-one workshop in ‘shooting fashion.’
These private one 2 one photography master classes will have a bias to learning and shooting with available light and how to get the most and best out of it using Bruce's amazing lighting techniques of seeing it first then bouncing it, double bouncing it, reflecting it, diffusing it etc.
"The art of good photography lighting is first to learn how to see the light and then put your subject into the best parts of the light.
De-constructing both available light and artificial light lighting so you build a better understanding of how different lighting techniques work.
Light has many textures as well as variations in intensity/density, Bruce will teach you his instinctive lighting techniques used in all of his own fashion portrait and beauty photography images.
Bruce will also teach you his artificial photography lighting techniques to if and when they are needed.
You will also learn Bruce's rules of composition which he uses in his own commercial photography images to lead the viewers eye through a image, essential to sell fashion from the image.
It was once said during one of Bruce's talks during a photo expo, "Mr Smith, I notice that you break all of the rules that we have to adhere to but YOU DO IT SO WELL" Bruce's reply to this, "In order to break the rules you must first learn the rules and completely understand them.
Bruce will be teaching you how to break the rules well to.
Taught personally by Bruce , they can be arranged at a studio or a location of your choice or you can have your portraiture, fashion and beauty photography master classes at a beautiful French chateau near Bordeaux, France where I am based.
There are amazing areas inside and outside of the chateau to shoot, along with a fabulous huge daylight studio with plenty of flash and continuous lighting kit for when the amazing daylight is not so good.
Image featured was shot by Bruce for a major advertising campaign for Häagen-Dazs ice cream
